Purpose of the Position:

The Admissions Counselor is a member of the professional recruiting team that energetically and enthusiastically pursues and implements the recruiting and enrollment goals of the university. This position represents and interprets UAH accurately and persuasively to prospective students, parents, school officials, school counselors, teachers, alumni as well as UAH faculty, staff, and students.

• Provide admissions counseling and pre-advising to prospective students throughout the admissions cycle. Participate in university related travel
to develop and cultivate relationships with prospective students, school counselors for up to 12 weeks in the fall and up to eight weeks in the spring.
• Develop and cultivate relationships with prospective students at all points in the admissions funnel through telephone, email, texting, in-person and writing communication. Answer telephone, email and other inquiries and provide information to students, their families and guidance counselors. • Provide indepth consulations for undecided students. Follow up, track and communicate with prospective students and assist them from prospect through enrollment.
• Develop and implement territory management plans for assigned geographic territory. Asssit with the development and implementation of recruitment strategies of students from targeted areas and underrepresented populations. Participate in the planning of execution of recruitment activities including high school visits, college fairs, receptions and other territory events.
• Assist with on campus recruitment events including visit days, open houses, receptions and Orientation sessions. Assist with other projects and coordinate with other departments as needed.
• Ability to track recruiting efforts, generate and analyze reports to better manage assigned territory and provide regular updates (verbally and in reports) to the Director of Admissions
• Schedule meetings with prospective students individually and their families while on campus to advise regarding specific stages of the admissions process, student related pre-admission matters, evaluating problems, implementing solutions and setting education goals.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree
• 1-2 years full-time verifiable work experience in a university or college setting OR 1-2 years as an active member of a student organization
• Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite
• Must have database management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills required
• Must have a valid driver's license

Desired Qualifications:

• Master's degree is preferred
• CRM experience (specifically Ellucian Recruit) is desired
