| The Public Safety Telecommunicator is employed in The University of Alabama in Huntsville Police Department Emergency Communications and Operations Center as both a 911 Call Taker and Public Safety Dispatcher. Under general supervision, the Public Safety Telecommunicator independently performs specialized and essential work in receiving and dispatching accurate information to appropriate emergency responders during, at times, highly stressful and intense situations. Work involves responsibility for the operation of a specialized radio utilizing multiple channels and frequencies in a 911 center. The incumbent requires fast, efficient, and accurate receiving, dispatching, and processing of calls and messages from and to appropriate vehicles and personnel. Employees work with considerable independence, subject to instructions or orders to meet special operating circumstances or emergencies.
The incumbent will effectively and efficiently communicate between campus law enforcement headquarters, campus police officers in the field, parking officers, student assistants, other university departments and personnel, and outside agencies. These interactions require tact, discretion, and confidentiality. Work is performed in a communications center without windows. The incumbent often works in a fast-paced, harried work atmosphere, sometimes confronted by disturbing or stressful call situations. Work is essentially sedentary with occasional walking, bending, lifting of objects under 25 pounds, or minimal physical activity. Work requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time, operate multiple personal computers and transmitters/receivers, and perceive and/or discriminate colors and sounds from multiple directions, depth, and texture. Work requires continuous repetitive arm/hand movement. |

| The EarthRISE Project Office, within the Lab for Applied Science (LAS) under the Earth System Science Center (ESSC), is seeking a Research Associate to support science teams across EarthRISE and to help contribute to an EarthRISE ARL research initiative across the NASA Earth Science Division (ESD). The position will complement a large and dynamic applied sciences group and, as a member of the EarthRISE Project Office, will provide project and solution management expertise. This includes supporting solutions development through active communication with NASA HQ and centers; building and maintaining a database of ESD projects with an evaluation and summary of those at Application Readiness Levels (ARL) 8/9; working with both technical and lay staff to reach out to and summarize existing projects and their ARLs; and synthesizing information across the portfolio for internal NASA awareness and reporting. The incumbent will have knowledge of applied Earth Science, strong project management skills, and a desire to provide leadership and strategic planning to achieve NASA and EarthRISE goals. A strong background in applied Earth Science - including familiarity with satellite remote sensing data products and with federal ARL/TRL frameworks and reporting - together with practical experience coordinating or managing diverse teams, is required.
