Purpose of the Position:

The Material Control Assistant is responsible with assisting with the handling and processing of all items received for the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and for packaging and processing all shipped items from the University. This position is also responsible for assisting with all surplus property pickups.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Delivery of materials and equipment to University departments and centers
• Retrieval of surplus material and equipment from University departments and centers
• Perform receiving, shipping and warehousing of material and equipment
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager

Minimum Requirements:

• High school education or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience
• Some work experience in shipping and receiving.
• Ability to use a computer, related software and other office equipment.
• Must have a valid Alabama Driver's License and be or be able to be certified under the UAH Vehicle Safety Program.
• Good verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

Desired Qualifications:

• Some college coursework is preferred.
• Experience in an office environment is desired.
• Warehouse experience is preferred.
• Ability to operate a 6,000 lb. capacity forklift and drive a 2 1/2 ton capacity delivery truck is desired.

 

Published Salary (if available):

$33,000 - $35,000
