Purpose of the Position:

The Residence Life Coordinator is responsible for directing the daily operation of a Housing area (One to Two residence halls and/or campus apartments with 500 to 900 beds). The essential functions of this position include the supervision of student staff, programming, crisis intervention, and student conduct. The Residence Life Coordinator also oversees the departmental efforts in various areas including, but not limited to campus-wide desk operations, summer camp, conference, and orientation operations, and co-advising department-supported student organizations. This position has a live-on requirement and provides support and assistance to students through serving in a campus-wide duty rotation during the academic year, summer, and holidays.

Duties / Responsibilities
- Supervise Resident Assistant team of 1 to 2 residential communities to include communication of expectations, administer accountability measures, and provide on-going professional development.
- Assist the Assistant Director of Residence Life in the recruitment, selection, and training of student staff.
- Conduct Meetings on an as needed basis with community students to guide necessary professional, social, and personal development
- Advise Student Organizations sponsored by the Housing & Residence Life Department
- Document relevant interactions with students and review cases of student misconduct and determine fair consequences at the discretion of the Dean of Students office.
- Attend meetings as assigned to include weekly staff meetings and bi-weekly departmental meetings.
- Participate (as directed) in occupancy management for area of responsibility to include room assignment changes
- Manage programming budgets, execute the procurement of necessary materials
- Review daily communication logs and follow up with concerns as needed.
- Facilitate campus wide desk operations of six 24-hour desks and one apartment clubhouse involving leading the department’s efforts in the recruitment & selection, scheduling, training, evaluation, and payroll management of student desk staff.
- During the summer assisting with the Assistant Directors of Residence Life & Housing Operations to manage the check-in, check-out, facility management, and staffing of desk & duty for camps, conferences, and orientation.
- Plan, support, implement, and evaluate initiatives that contribute to the overall wellbeing of residents to include educational, social, and developmental growth.
- Execute the department’s community development model through the support of active and passive programming opportunities
- Communicate relevant information to residents
- Refer students to campus resources as needed
- Execute move-in procedures at the beginning of each semester and move out procedures at the end of each semester
- Collaborate with maintenance and custodial staff to ensure appropriate upkeep of facilities
- Participate in a weekly 24 hour on-call rotation with Residence Directors
- Respond to emergency/crisis situations in area of responsibility during normal business hours and after hours as needed
- Collaborate with Dean of Students to implement wellness checks
- Represent Housing & Residence Life by actively participating in appropriate campus wide events and committees

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience
• 1-2 years of full-time verifiable experience in Housing & Residence Life
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and accounting
• Excellent communications, and interpersonal skills

Desired Qualifications:

• Master's degree is preferred
• 3-4 years of experience in Housing & Residence Life is desired
• Working knowledge of Banner and Adirondack platform software is preferred

Published Salary (if available):

$38,000 - $40,000
