Purpose of the Position:

The on-call Research Scientist V, Step 4, will analyze lightning observations from: ISS LIS, TRMM LIS, and OTD. The incumbent will perform QA on the data and assess long term stability of LIS observations.

Duties / Responsibilities:
• Produce preliminary statistics and maps of lightning climatology.
• Work with GLM data from GOES-16, -17, and -18. Download level 0 and other data from the LZSS eGRESS repository when necessary.
• Monitor the stability of GLM using GLM background images and develop related software.
• Participate and conduct in biweekly GLM CVCT meetings.

Minimum Requirements:

• Master's degree in Atmospheric Science.
• 8 years or more of verifiable, full-time work experience.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.

Desired Qualifications:

• Minimum 10 years of verifiable, full-time work experience in meteorological data processing and analysis is preferred.

Published Salary (if available):

$50.34 - $51.90 An Hour (FTE=$104,717 - $107,952)
