Purpose of the Position:

The Research Associate will support the Office of Data Science and Informatics (ODSI) Project Office at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) within the Lab for Applied Science (LAS) under the Earth System Science Center (ESSC) at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH).

NASA's Office of Data Science and Informatics (ODSI) Project Office monitors trends and progressions across the informatics, data science, and information technology communities in order to inform strategy and develop effective solutions for Earth science data management and dissemination. Additionally, the ODSI Project Office provides a broad user perspective as to how NASA Earth science data and information are represented and communicated. The ODSI project fosters cross-community collaborations in order to improve all phases of the Earth science data life cycle, including processes, policies, engineering, and information communication.

Duties / Responsibilities:

• Engage with diverse stakeholders to define and implement data management, data application, and technical documentation strategies, including policies and governance frameworks.
• Identify, report, analyze, and resolve technical documentation issues.
• Support the development of technical writing for training materials relevant to scientific data management and applications.
• Integrate and distill information about technical project goals and accomplishments.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Atmospheric Science, Geosciences, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 0-3 months of full-time verifiable work experience.
• Demonstrated technical writing proficiency.
• Experience developing strategies for disseminating information across multiple platforms.
• Working knowledge of Adobe, Google, and Microsoft product suites, as well as other technical writing or documentation tools.
• Ability to work independently and responsibly as part of a broader project environment.

Desired Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Journalism, Atmospheric Science, Geosciences, or a closely related field.

$45,000
