Purpose of the Position:

The Senior PTAC Counselor will assist the SBDC Director in the day to day management of the Procurement Technical Assistance Center. The Counselor will working with multiple partners, stakeholders, and community leaders, and offer technical assistance to Alabama’s businesses that contract with federal, state, or local governments in a seven county North Alabama region. This role requires attention to detail, excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, grant and proposal development, reporting, leadership, and federal funding partner compliance within a fairly structured environment. The counselor will also provide administrative, budgetary, and operational support to the Director. Other responsibilities include assuming a lead role in the areas of advising, training, and networking services in addition to developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships, campus partners, government agencies, large prime contractors, and resources including leading, and providing direction and guidance of one procurement specialist.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and/or successful equivalent education and years of experience in professional consultation in business development and-or government contracting/5 -9 years of full-time verifiable work experience (of which should include leadership and program management experience)/proficient in MS Office Suite, System for Award Management (SAM) system/demonstrated competency in financial reporting, and budgeting/business development and strategy experience gained from direct experience and/or formal training is required/ability to design and present training programs, both in-person and online/must have excellent verbal and written communication skills/must have a valid driver’s license

Desired Qualifications:

Master’s degree is preferred/10 years of related work experience is desired/previous government contracting experience as a buyer, purchasing agent or contract manager is preferred/hands on business planning and development skills is desired/grant management and federal funding compliance experience is preferred/business ownership experience is desired/ high level of experience with, but not limited to, database management, web conferencing platforms, digital marketing is preferred/ previous related experience working at a college or university is desired

Published Salary (if available):

$31.00 - $37.69 hourly
