Purpose of the Position:

The Associate Director, Institutional Research & Assessment will work closely with the Assistant Provost to support Research, Effectiveness, and Assessment activities across the UAH campus. The Associate Director of Institutional Research is a key member of the University that makes strategic recommendations to executive-level leadership, Deans, & department heads across multiple domains. This includes coordinating the annual assessment reporting process for all units, managing the course evaluation process and the faculty credentialing process for all colleges, and helping to prepare reports and documents for accreditations and reviews. This position also supports the Research functions of the office by responding to ad hoc data requests and preparing comparison reports and dashboards as assigned.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Assist the Assistant Provost and manage institutional research and assessment activities, including collaborating cross-functionally with leadership and colleagues with various campus partners, and with others throughout the University.
• Formulate strategies based on complex data and analysis and present these strategies and recommendations to Senior Leadership.
• Conduct descriptive and analytical studies and produce ad-hoc reports pertaining to faculty, students, staff, and the instructional process.
• Assist the Assistant Provost with the continued enhancement of institutional assessment reporting and identify gaps within large data.
• Assist individual faculty or programs in developing or improving assessment plans and strategies at the undergraduate and graduate level.
• Manage and support the assessment of curricular, and co-curricular learning experiences.
• Assist the Assistant Provost in the management of the University’s SACSCOC accreditation process.
Oversee and manage Anthology (formerly CampusLabs) software modules for Compliance Assist (Accreditation, Credentialing.
• Work in collaboration with Assistant Provost in planning, and perform Program Review.
• Prepare and process Sole Source Justification Form to ensuring licensing fees are paid.
• Design and develop assessment tools and resources.
• Assist in creating measurable goals and outcomes. including general education.
• Map and align instructional. academic support. co-curricular and institutional outcomes.
• Develop rubrics and other assessment tools.
• Develop instructional materials (including web-based) for training and support.
• Lead, contribute, and participate in assessment workshops. Work closely with the assessment coordinators, and help facilitate the assessment review committee.
• Develop strategies for the effective gathering and sharing of assessment results within and beyond the university. including but not limited to web-based dissemination.
• Manage enhancing institutional assessment reporting and identify gaps within the data.
• Serve as lead in providing guidance and direction to the University Assessment Coordinator, Report writer and Report Reviewer meetings/trainings and others sessions as needed.
• Design assessment plans and complete assessment reports for non-assigned units, such as College Academy and Charger Foundations (General Education) as needed.
• Co-chair the Assessment Peer Review Committee and manage the peer review process
• Perform other assessment-related responsibilities as may be assigned
• Assist with the continuous development of the institutional effectiveness plan.
• Examine and evaluate a variety of interpretations of material, resolve all anomalies, and use it appropriately to answer relevant questions and create meaningful reports. Manage the analysis and reporting of key data function.
• Draft narratives and gather supporting documents for accreditation standards related to assessment, faculty qualifications and credentials, and other areas as assigned.
• Concurrently review faculty credentials in accordance with the newly approved Faculty Credentials Policy.
• Coordinate with colleges and departments to implement and maintain appropriate documentation of faculty credentials.
• Oversee the Student Instructor Evaluation (SIE) process to ensure accurate, timely, and appropriate evaluations are administered and report s are generated.
• Work with each college and department to add program-specific questions to the SIE form.
• Create, develop and distribute additional reports of SIE data as required by college. departments. or other offices.
• Design and administer other course- and instructor-related surveys within the SIE software. such as Collaborative Learning Faculty and Student surveys and the Online Student Engagement survey.
• Prepare SIE reports with quantitative (numeric) and qualitative (comments) results for inclusion in Faculty180, the faculty activity/reporting/evaluation software.
• Manage Explorance Blue software for SIEs including completing the Sole Source Justification Form and ensuring licensing fees are paid.
• Lead and collaborate work with Online Learning staff to coordinate software integration between SIE software and Canvas, and assist in training to ensure easy access for students and faculty.
• Work with Assistant Provost to manage external/benchmarking student and faculty surveys, such as National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) and Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (FSSE).
Assist as needed in responding to ad hoc data requests
• Assist in the design of dashboards/reports that combine multiple data sources (courses, faculty, and students) and compare them across time
• Assist in the design of dashboards/reports to monitor course modalities as needed
• Supervise intern(s)/student worker(s) from advertising the position, hiring/onboarding, and managing their task list/workload in consultation with the Director
• Work with the Assistant Provost to monitor the OIREA Data Portal to ensure that reports and documents are updated regularly
• Work with the Assistant Provost to develop and implement project tracking system for the office to monitor data and other requests and ensure timely responses
• Work with the Assistant Provost to ensure policies related to IREA areas are up-to-date and comprehensive
• Develop and maintain continuity planning documentation for assigned areas of responsibility

Minimum Requirements:

• Master's degree in Social Science, Assessment, Statistics, Education, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience.
• 3 years of full-time verifiable work experience in higher education Assessment (which should include 2 years of experience in Institutional Research with proficiency in Assessment Outcomes).
• Proficient in writing student and operational outcomes, and analyzing large amounts of data for Assessment reports.
• Strong knowledge of SACS COC requirements.
• Strong understanding and commitment to student privacy in course evaluations, and other ethical considerations in Assessment.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate successfully with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Proficient in writing student and operational outcomes.
• Strong knowledge and experience analyzing large amounts of data for Research and Assessment reports.
• Strong knowledge of SACSCOC requirements, rules, regulations, guidelines, and procedures.

Desired Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in a related field.
• 4 years of experience in Institutional Research (which should include 1 year of higher education experience in Assessment).
• Expertise in Assessment Outcomes is preferred
• Proficient in Banner, CampusLabs, and Blue Technology.

Published Salary (if available):

$75,000 - $80,000
