Purpose of the Position:

The Academic Services Coordinator II will provide essential assistance for domestic graduate and international undergraduate and graduate student retention, student success, and progress toward graduation. The Coordinator will assist students, staff, and faculty and direct them to the appropriate source of information. The Coordinator will work with the college deans on issues relating to domestic graduate and international undergraduate and graduate students. In addition, the position works directly with students to promote student success and progress toward graduation.

The Academic Services Coordinator II provides direct advising and support for international students by serving as a Designated School Official (DSO) in the Student Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) operated by the Department of Homeland Security. Perform immigration advising to F-1 international students. Provide support to students on matters concerning F status, retention initiatives, cultural adjustment, and personal and related issues using cross-cultural communications and a person-centered approach. Serve as an Alternative Responsible Officer (ARO) for the Exchange Visitor Program. Creates and develops special programs, improved processes, and outreach campaigns to promote student success for both international students and the Graduate School. Develops strategies to engage with diverse and international student populations. Leads initiatives, events, workshops, and programs that promote student persistence, retention, and academic and career development learning. Represents the Office of the Associate Provost and participates in orientation, academic and professional development events, recruitment, student life, and engagement initiatives. Sustains an accurate, up-to-date body of knowledge about curricula across the institution and the current career landscape in the relevant fields. Keeps official records and executes administrative policies determined by or in conjunction with other officials within the area of assigned responsibility. Manages special projects. Participates in cross-training to help cover other needs in the Graduate School and International Services. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and years of relevant experience; 3 - 5 years of full-time verifiable relevant administrative work experience (to include experience in F-1 student advising as a Designated School Official (DSO) in the Student Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS)); proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google suite is required; must have a working knowledge of program administration; must have excellent communication and a high level of organization, interpersonal skills, and independent thinking; U.S. citizenship is required

Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree is preferred; 5 years of administrative experience in higher education is desired; experience with SCT Banner is preferred; experience advising college students and working on student success efforts is desired

Published Salary (if available):

$43,000 - $45,000
