Purpose of the Position:

The Principal Research Engineer will provide leadership, perform research, manage, and
support the design, development, testing and analyses of weapon systems and platform integration, conducting research in physics based modeling and simulation with an emphasis on multibody dynamics, terramechanics, and digital engineering. Research model validation through lab experimentation and testing in relevant environments.

Duties/Responsibilities
Provide leadership, perform research, manage, and development physics based multibody dynamics and finite element models of weapon systems with emphasis on mechanical integration and structural responses of the weapon and the prime mover.
Collaborate with other Government agencies and academic institutions to extend current ground vehicle analytical methods to missile systems
Support lab operations and experimentation, to include design, setup, instrumentation and data collection, results of testing and post-test data analysis for model validation Prepare documentation and deliver test results and presentations within the community
Serve as a subject matter expert to the University and the community in physics based modeling and simulation, specifically multibody dynamics, contributing to the education of students and offering lectures to expand workforce development
Perform strategic planning and developing a vision for the University in system development and integration.
Serve as a lead, work closely with, and collaborate with scientists, engineers and program managers to support development and execution of complex scientific programs and research projects

Minimum Requirements:

Ph.D - preferably in science, engineering, or business; (Bachelors and experience in a
specialized area may be substituted for a degree);10 – 10.5 years of full-time work experience.

Desired Qualifications:

Ph.D. with 30+ years of experience in weapon system development and test, or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience.; Must have supervisory and technical leadership experience; Active TS/SCI security clearance; U.S. Citizenship is required

Published Salary (if available):

$195,297 - $200,000
