Purpose of the Position:

The Research Assistant II will conduct funded research in collaboration with government agencies (federal, state, and local), industry partners, and university organizations. The incumbent will perform computer-based tasks to support modeling, networking, and systems engineering efforts for military and other contracted projects.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Support modeling, networking, and systems engineering needs of customers.
  • Create computer models that simulate malicious attacks on customer systems.
  • Evaluate and harden computer network systems for cyber threats. 
  • Perform internet-based research for funded projects.
  • Perform various internet search engines to discover, read, and evaluate open-source data for relevant use in respective customer projects.
  • Perform entry-level database and computer support for funded research projects.
  • Maintain a database of supplies and parts needed to accomplish the project.
  • Maintain a database of detailed tests that comprise project objectives.
  • Support the development of briefings
  • Add descriptions, verbiage, images, and other data for in-process reviews, status meetings, after-action reviews, and other briefings conducted in-house or provided to the customer.
Minimum Requirements:

• College coursework in Science, Engineering, or Business
• 0-1 year of full-time verifiable work experience
• Must be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite
• Must have moderate technical knowledge
• Must have excellent communication skills
• U.S. citizenship required

Desired Qualifications:

• Knowledge and understanding of cybersecurity principles is preferred
• Foundational knowledge of Google office products is desired

Published Salary (if available):

FTE = $38,028 - $40,880 ($18.28 - $19.65)
