Purpose of the Position:

The Data Analyst is responsible for the Advancement database and reporting systems that will provide data to the Office of Development team and the University community at large, which is crucial to advancing the University's fundraising efforts. The Data Analyst will partner closely with key members of the fundraising staff to determine the necessary information needed to accurately generate data for constituent mailing/solicitation lists, statistics for reports and brochures, and data extractions for specified special projects. The Analyst will facilitate data integrity reporting; data imports; and database processes, procedures, and troubleshooting.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Independently and with the collaboration of the Senior Director of Advancement Services and the Development team, produce and design Ellucian CRM Advance custom and ad hoc reports
- Demonstrate advanced analytical and organization skills
- Responsible for importing and exporting data from CRM Advance, Banner, online giving systems, and Emma email marketing tool
- Use data for identifying trends, donor retention, and analytics
- Develop database workflows, communication plans, and customized dashboards
- Generate information for PowerPoint presentations utilizing graphs, charts, descriptions, and analytic data to share trends, successes, challenges, and developments with UAH President, UA System, UAHF Board members, and other entities
- Recommend, assign, and maintain system involvement, awards, solicitation, and correspondence codes required for tracking Development programs and appeals
- Serve as the system admin for CRM Advance
- Identify and work with potential Advancement Services vendors
- Create and update policies for procedures for the database, user tools, and reporting
- Perform regular database audits to ensure correctness and consistency in data entry standards
- Data entry, including updates and adding new constituent records
- Assist with software upgrades and implementation of new modules. Provide end-user training and troubleshooting expertise relating to the alumni/donor database
- Develop and/or make recommendations for data dashboards and automated data reporting
- Collaborate with the Development team to develop new ideas, designs, and system implementation

Minimum Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in an applicable field or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience
- Three years of related experience with large relational databases, data collection, and analysis
- Highly skilled in the use and manipulation of large data sets
- Experience with queries, analyzing reports, and presenting findings using Microsoft Office Suite tools
- Experience building custom reports within SQL Server Reporting Systems (SSRS) or using Power BI
- Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills; be highly organized, proactive, take initiative, resolve problems, and be independently motivated; must be able to prioritize multiple projects with exceptional attention to detail

Desired Qualifications:

- Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems
- Previous experience using Ellucian Advance/CRM Advance, Raiser's Edge, NXT, or another type of fundraising database software
- Experience working in higher education, nonprofits, or fundraising
