Purpose of the Position:

The Director of Student Life is responsible for overseeing the development, coordination, and implementation of student engagement programs and services. The role is focused on enhancing the student experience by fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive campus environment. This individual will collaborate with various campus departments to promote student well-being, community involvement, leadership development, and academic success.

Duties/Responsibilities
Develop and manage programs and initiatives that foster a sense of community, belonging, and school spirit.

• Oversee the planning and execution of campus events, social activities, and traditions that engage students in the life of the university.
• Coordinate Week of Welcome, Homecoming, and Family & Parent Weekend.
• Serve on committees and participate in institutional decision-making processes related to student development and campus life.
• Facilitate student life sessions for new student orientations and enrollment service events.

Supervise content areas that provide learning and development opportunities for students including Student Engagement, Spirit and Tradition, Student Leadership, Civic Engagement, Fraternity & Sorority Life, and Parent and Family Programs.

• Supervise and mentor professional staff of three Coordinators, and student employees, fostering a supportive and productive team environment.
• Identify needs and promote in-house and off-site training for departmental staff and students to foster their professional development and growth.
• Lead collaborative strategic planning efforts that result in student life initiatives that support the university’s vision, mission, and strategic goals.
• Prepare, track, and coordinate departmental budgets.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external partners, including alumni, parents, and community organizations.
• Collect data, assess student satisfaction, and evaluate the effectiveness of student life programs and services.
• Prepare reports and make recommendations for continuous improvement in student engagement and development.
• Stay informed of best practices and trends in higher education to enhance student life experiences.

• Manage and ensure student life programming is in compliance with university policies and procedures as well as ensuring risk management procedures are in place.
• Work with vendors and management companies in securing entertainment for campus activities including but not limited to negotiations, requisitions, contracts and reimbursements.
• Prepare and distribute electronic weekly campus wide student newsletter and additional weekly campus publications.
• Serve as an advisory liaison, and advise Student Government Association and University Mascot.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in any relevant field, 5 years of full-time verifiable work experience, or an equivalent combination and education and years of experience
• Knowledge of Microsoft office software
• Planning & implementation experience on a college campus
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desired Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in College Student Affairs/Personnel or related field preferred
• 3-5 years of full-time work experience
• Knowledge of student development theories, student learning, and student success factors desired
• Experience in Student Activities/Student Life at a college or university preferred
• Experience advising student organizations, and experience planning and implementing campus-wide programs desired
• Experience with assessing student learning and satisfaction preferred
• Experience in using social media in marketing and communication with students desired

Published Salary (if available):

$70,000 - $74,784
