Applicant Login Career Coordinator I Apply now Job no: 501838 Department: Dean of Students Work type: Staff Full-time Non-Exempt Location: Alabama Categories: Student Affairs Purpose of the Position: The Career Coordinator I will assist in the career development program's logistical and operational aspects, including campus-based outreach activities and career coaching with students and alumni. The coordinator also assists in the identification of both experiential learning opportunities and permanent degree positions for students and alumni.Duties/Responsibilities• Coordinating one-to one career appointments to professionally and accurately advise, and counsel students and-or alumni from all backgrounds and majors in all phases of career development to secure professional experience through various internal-external sources, by assisting them to find suitable employment, develop job-search skills-strategies, to enhance employability, and ultimately achieve success post-graduation. • Utilizes knowledge of career development theory and student development theory to coach students in matters relating to career readiness in a university environment to include exploratory discussions, resume/cover letter help, interview prep, career fair prep, and experiential opportunities and exploratory opportunities etc.• Assist students, alumni, and other designated clients in developing, and evaluating employment plans, long-term and short-term goals, and decisions with special emphasis on formal and informal career development assessments to population served to include underrepresented target populations. • Communicate regularly via email, phone calls, social media, or formal letters with students, parents, campus administration and any other stakeholders. • Identifies career development or professional topics and trends in higher education via journals, research, conferences, to aid in the educational/ career development, engagement, and success of these students through individual advising and-or group presentations. • Ability to maintain effective relationships with employers and other supporting agencies• Work with Faculty in order to develop an understanding of the curriculum and job market to build potential employer contacts.• Ability to identify, and assist in the coordination and development of employment opportunities at the internship, job shadowing, co-op and full-time levels.• Provide coaching to, and collaborate with colleagues for quality reporting and peer review processes.• Knowledge of career counseling, career testing, resource library utilization, on-campus recruiting, job postings and resume referrals.• Coordinate and participates in workshops and events with the goal of engaging students in the career development process.• Utilize Charger path career management system and assist in the development of the quarterly and yearly assessment and evaluation of each assigned program, initiative and maintain confidential student and statistical information• Coordinate outreach and retention programs and recruitment activities in conjunction with campus stakeholders, serve as a member of planning committees and participate in staff meetings as necessary.• Provide assistance in data collection and reporting on experiential learning programs.• Minimal travel required for professional development and for meetings with various stakeholders Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and years of relevant experience• 1-3 years of full-time work experience• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite• Excellent written and verbal skills are required• Must be authorized to work in the United States Desired Qualifications: • Master's degree is preferred• Prior work in a Career Center or completing career assessments is desired• Experience working on a college campus preferred• Knowledge of Banner and Handshake CRM is desired Published Salary (if available): $40,042 Advertised: Nov 20 2024 Central Standard Time Applications close: Back to search results Apply now Refer a friend Send me jobs like these We will email you new jobs that match this search.
