Purpose of the Position:

The Postdoctoral Research Assistant II will carry out research, perform complex data analysis of Astrophysical data and write and publish papers at the highest level.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Work on research projects with the data from VLT/MUSE, ALMA, XMM and Hubble
• Assist Dr. Sun to mentor graduate and undergraduate students
• Assist research grant proposals led by Dr. Sun to NASA and NSF

Minimum Requirements:

• Ph.D.
• 18-21 months of full-time verifiable work experience.
• Experience performing research in the optical IFU data (VLT/MUSE preferred).
• Excellent communication skills.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience performing research in sub-mm with ALMA observatory.
• Experience performing research in X-Ray Astrophysics using data from the XMM-Newton observatory.
• Experience assisting and mentoring Ph.D. students and undergraduate research students is preferred.
• Experience writing research proposals is desired.

Published Salary (if available):

$49,594 - $52,000
