Purpose of the Position:

The Marketing and Events Manager will lead the College of Science’s outreach and promotion efforts, including shaping the College’s online media presence and organizing College-wide events. The role is primarily outward-facing but includes collaboration with other units on campus. The position requires a high level of communication and interaction with various stakeholders, including the training and coordination of the College of Science Student Ambassadors.

Duites/Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and execute the marketing strategy for the COS to promote and recruit for its degree programs, promote its research, and enhance the COS brand image.
• Manage social media accounts of the COS and coordinate with OMC on developing and ordering promotional materials for the COS.
• Coordinate and help plan building design elements and decorations to support communication of the COS brand.
• Manage and help plan the participation of events (including Honors Day, COS Picnic, Family Day, Homecoming, Charger Preview, Discovery Day, Week of Welcome, and others) in conjunction with other COS staff and Student Affairs, as necessary, to occasionally include venue reservations and vendor procurement.
• Represent the College at internal and external venues, as appropriate, including student recruitment and orientation events on and off-campus. • • Support recruitment campaigns for the COS.
• Work with COS departments to secure content for regular COS communications to external and internal constituencies, e.g., through a newsletter. Monitor and update COS website for accuracy and relevance.
• Recruit, train, and oversee College of Science Student Ambassadors (a group of volunteer student leaders).

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience
• 1-3 years of full-time verifiable relevant work experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tool
• Must have excellent communication, event planning, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing or a related area
• Experience in an academic environment
• Basic graphic design knowledge

Published Salary (if available):

$47,000 - $52,000
