Purpose of the Position:

Reporting to the Associate Provost for International Services, Academic Integrity, and Dean of the Graduate School, The Director of Graduate and International Admissions at The University of Alabama in Huntsville will manage and provide oversight of the daily operations of the office.
The Director is responsible for all aspects of the recruitment and admissions process for all graduate students as well as for all international students. This individual also acts as a liaison between the Graduate School and prospective students; reviews prospective student applications; coordinates admissions programs; leads admissions events; and coordinates the admissions review process with graduate program directors. The Director will work closely with the Associate and Provost and Dean in the planning and administration of strategic enrollment, and recruitment and outreach initiatives, and programming. The incumbent will also manage graduate and international recruitment efforts in the management of the functional development and maintenance of the university’s Client Relationship Management (CRM) applications systems.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Lead and Manage the daily operations of the Office of Graduate and International Admissions, and support graduate and international enrollment strategic initiatives in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulations foreign and domestic, university policies, guidelines and procedures.
• Work closely with the Associate Provost for International Services, Academic Integrity and Dean of Graduate School in the management of the Graduate and international Admissions Budget .
• Recommend and implement refinements to the Graduate School/International Services admissions procedures in consultation with graduate program directors, admission review committees, campus constituents, third-party vendors, and Graduate School/International Services staff.
• Periodically review and revise the application interface to improve the speed and quality of the application process.
• Attends professional development programs (meetings, conferences, workshops, etc.) with the goal of refining existing skills and identifying new capabilities that may improve operational efficiency and/or facilitate the achievement of enrollment goals
• Build and update all CRM-hosted applications and forms required to process graduate and international admissions.
• Manage all developments and updates to the admissions functions of the CRM.
• Plans and implements notifications to the student information system to support special program initiatives, admission requirement changes, and increase processing efficiencies.
• Create admission funnel reports for graduate student admission.
• Provide the data required to meet the needs of Graduate School/International Services unit, graduate program directors, and the Office of Institutional Research, Effectiveness, & Assessment by using query management tools, researching data requests to support enrollment goals and recruitment initiatives.
• Serves as one of the contacts for prospective students, program personnel, and external constituents inquiring about admission to the Graduate School.
• Processes applications and admission decisions in the CRM for prospective graduate students and international students to include file and transcript review, residency verification, as well as issuance of appropriate levels of communication with prospective students.
• Ensures accurate GPA calculations and processes admit decisions to include the processing of transcripts.
• Provides information needed to applicants and university academic officials. Monitors the flow of data from CRM into Banner.
• Evaluates data on application forms and advises applicants regarding missing data or data which appear to be inaccurate.
• Ensures the accuracy of all international student applications and admissions processes.
• Notifies all applicants regarding application status.
• Corresponds as appropriate with newly admitted students; manages activities regarding information dissemination to newly admitted students.
• Supervises graduate and international services admissions staff regarding admission processes to include training in CRM and Banner entry of admissions documents.
• Oversees data entry by graduate and international services admissions staff for all professional development in education courses.
• Hold meetings regularly to ensure staff are up to date regarding entry/processing, scanning/office protocol, and other graduate admissions changes and policies.
• Represents graduate and international admissions on selected committees and in meetings.
• Works collaboratively with the offices and staff in other areas of Academic Planning and Enrollment Management.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree
• Five years of full-time verifiable work experience in admissions with progressive responsibility, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication
• Advanced computer literacy
• Strong sense of initiative with an established project management record
• Proven experience with supervisory practices and skills
• Technical experience with the implementation and maintenance of an admissions CRM
• Experience with enrollment planning and program development
• U.S. citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident Status
• Data analysis and assessment/strategic planning experience
• Database management skills and experience with enrollment information systems, for example, Ellucian (Recruit), Slate, Banner, and other CRM systems
• Must hold a valid driver's license and be able to travel and work some evenings or weekends

• Slate experience
• Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills, attentiveness to detail, and technology competence. Experience with Windows-based computer and knowledge of Google and Microsoft Office suite applications
• Previous experience with international admissions
• Experience with higher education policies and procedures

Published Salary (if available):

$70,000 - $75,000
