Purpose of the Position:

The Senior Business Advisor will serve as an on-call APEX Accelerator Advisor to advise clients on strategies to enter and grow in the government contracting markets (local, state and federal). To participate in marketing and expanding current SBDC/APEX offerings and provide training/professional development classes. The incumbent will serve as an advocate of UAH SBDC/APEX for the entrepreneurial ecosystem and business community in support of economic development.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Provide specialized expertise, counseling, and advising to nascent and experienced entrepreneurs through established businesses and a myriad of clients on multiple small business subjects including contract ready requirements, SAM registration, Federal, State and Local government market research, cyber security, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), regulatory entities, university procedures and guidelines.
• Provide one-on-one advising to business across an array of procurement topics. Assist clients in the development of strategic business development plans, management and operations.
• Perform cash flow and financial management and break-even analysis, and growth strategy options.
• Manage client portfolios and identify business needs. Conduct market research to identify best opportunities, perform analysis, and monitor portfolio performance, and present findings to clients.
• Provide advising for business socio-economic government certification strategy and ownership considerations. Provide client assessment and advisement on government accounting and human resource nuances.
• Make independent judgements, handle complex situations that arise in dealing with SBDC clients; handle more complex client situations that involve advance business development plans for nuanced government contracting and special situations.
•Provide guidance on in-depth financial analysis, restructuring, Mentor Protégé, Joint Venture, operational and organizational issues, acquisitions, valuations, troubled businesses, etc.
• In-depth knowledge, and implementation of ‘best management” practices for businesses.
• Provide counseling and advising to manufacturing, distribution, and service-based business.
Serve as lead Advisor, direct and guide the tasks and activities of lower level staff, and student interns
• Assist the Director with the development of program training strategy for entrepreneurial ecosystem, develop presentations on various topics such as Human Resources, Marketing, Finance and Business Start-ups in terms of doing business with the government. Conduct client training, and deliver presentations in person as well as virtual
• Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for business matters, lending and SBA, DoD subject matters for community events - Insure training and professional development is aligned with subjects/topics needed to serve as a SME as described in position description
• Responsible for developing, and managing contract goals in contract readiness, cyber security, FAR, DFAR, state and local procurement procedures and contract vehicles. Maintain written client contact records (meetings, phone calls, emails etc.) in the NeoSerra Online System
• Manage, monitor and maintain various program projects and activities
• Organize and maintain client and confidential information, correspondence, documentation, financial records, and other pertinent information.
• Work closely with the College of Business in regards to coordination of accounting tasks, travel and expense authorization
• Participates in strategic development for community and business development plans.
• Create, develop and execute strategic plans, as assigned, for community, cohort and business development
• Serves as a Public Relations spokesperson, promoting UAH SBDC/APEX to public and personal network - Drives quality clients to UAH SBDC/APEX (good quality clients for SBDC are likely startups and training clientele and those interested in government contracting )
• Create and contribute to a digital marketing strategy for the SBDC Center and e-newsletter.
• Manage and maintain branding and marketing collateral to ensure university and SBDC network compliance. Market, monitor, and maintain a developmental website and social media accounts for the SBDC and APEX to include updates and events schedule
• Build and maintain effective relationships both digitally and in-person with internal and external constituents as well as our campus partners
• Create results-driven marketing, PR, and social media strategies in order to network, manage various sourcing and media channels to build and grow our economic ecosystem with the community.
• Create, promote and grow diverse partnerships with various cohorts, community and contributing partners and sponsors
• Promote UAH SBDC/APEX services utilizing digital media, social media, word of mouth, interviews and delivery of presentations
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Human Resources, Contracting, Procurement, Logistics, Engineering or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience
• 5-9 years of full-time verifiable and relevant professional work experience in a small business (to include experience in Business Administration, Management, Business Development, and Government Accounting)/must have experience in Microsoft Office Suite, Google email and calendar/computer keyboard data entry experience is required
•  Professional disposition and pose along with excellent verbal and written communication skills is a must. Self-discipline and drive and team focused work ethic desired

Desired Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in business administration/management/logistics/procurement is preferred
Business ownership or experience with contracting, government accounting is desired
• Experience with government HR, labor rates, pricing, business development, program development, federal contracting/contracting vehicles, FAR and consulting experience is preferred

$63,334 - $79.167
