Purpose of the Position:

 

The Director of Content Communications serves as a key member of the UAH Strategic Communications department, providing leadership of the Content Communications Team. Working under the direction of the VP for Strategic Communication and in partnership with the Directors for Creative Services and Digital Communications, the Director of Content Communications ensures the efficacy of content strategy, identification, and delivery.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Effectively leads and supervises the Content Communication team within the Office of Marketing and Communications
• Oversees the content creation of digital and print materials
• Strategizes communications and marketing with the Vice President for Strategic Communications and others on the OMC leadership team
• Ensures consistency and cohesiveness across the UAH brand
• Strategically generates media interest and builds/manages relationships to media outlets
• Writes and implements communications and marketing plans
• Works collaboratively with University partners
• Acts as the editor for university publications – enewsletters, magazines, e-blasts, websites, social media, media, etc.
• Outlines and oversees execution of print and digital marketing/advertising and social media strategy
• Regularly researches and evaluates the effectiveness of all communication and marketing plans
• Maintains talking points and key facts/data points about the university
• Oversees and manages vendor relationships in support of OMC
• Provides support to the other teams within the OMC as needed
• Follows best practices and stays current on developing marketing and communications trends
• Provides back-up support during all crisis communications activities
• Performs other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field
• 10 years of experience; Work experience may not be a substitute for education requirement
• Demonstrable, excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to adapt and meet varied or tight deadlines
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

 

Desired Qualifications:

 

• Master’s Degree and/or Accredited in Public Relations credential
• Proven experience in external and internal communications
• Strong managerial expertise, especially in leading small teams
• Expertise in strategic counseling, writing, editing, marketing, media relations, social media and advertising
• Must be engaging, and diplomatic and handle confidential and sensitive information
• Solid research and analytical abilities, and capacity to handle multiple projects on deadline as well as able to make decisions promptly
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
• Experience writing about technical and complex concepts

 

Published Salary (if available):

$71,000 - $90,000
