Purpose of the Position:

The primary purpose of this position is to provide expertise and assistance in scientific and engineering research related to technologies pertinent to weapon systems. The role emphasizes the design of experiments and the operation of research-grade gun systems to effectively collect, process, and present experimental data as specified in contract agreements. Additionally, the incumbent will serve as the primary point of contact for government agencies to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, manage hazardous materials inventory, and oversee the safety of operations.

Duties / Responsibilities
Execute contracted Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) efforts using relevant engineering hardware, software, and manufacturing tools.

Support the assembly, operation, and maintenance of single and two-stage light gas gun systems.

Provide technical support to address issues related to RDT&E programs.

Assist in the preparation of technical and progress reports/summaries as required by contracted efforts.

Foster positive, collaborative working relationships with academic, industry, and government stakeholders.

Serve as the technical lead in ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and hazardous materials regulations.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Master’s Degree (Bachelor's and experience in a specialized area may be substituted for a degree) in Engineering or a related scientific discipline and 18 to 21 months (1.5 - 1.75 years of full-time work experience are required.

Experience: Demonstrated experience in experimental design and operation of single- and two-stage light gas gun systems in support of hypersonic flight and hypervelocity impact testing.

Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with environmental regulations and hazardous materials management, along with a proven track record of meeting compliance standards and successfully passing inspections.

Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., MATLAB, Python, or similar tools).

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex data and findings clearly to diverse audiences.

Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment, promoting communication and cooperation among team members.
