| Purpose of the Position: |
Under the general supervision of the Custodial Supervisor, the Custodial Floor Technician is a key member of the UAH Facilities & Operations department, which is responsible for the planning, design, construction, renovation, maintenance, and repair of the University. As a Custodian, the employee's primary responsibility is to maintain the cleanliness of the University's buildings. The employee’s duties are performed full-time within the Weekend Shift (Friday, Saturday, & Sunday) hours of 10:00 AM - 10:45 PM. This shift is eligible for a shift differential of $2.50 per hour.
Duties / Responsibilities:
• Clean and disinfect restrooms, classrooms, offices, common areas, entrances and vestibules, elevators and stairwells, and/or other areas as assigned, as well as empty all trash and recycling receptacles. • Maintain floors in campus buildings by performing periodic maintenance such as, but not limited to, scrubbing, buffing, stripping and waxing, hot water extracting, etc. Follow proper procedures and adhere to safety guidelines, according to equipment operator’s manuals, when operating industrial cleaning equipment. • Inspect and evaluate assigned cleaning areas, and perform cleaning tasks until the areas have achieved appropriate levels of cleanliness. • Clean and secure equipment, tools, and other supplies when not in use to ensure maximum usage. Organize and maintain clean and safe custodial storage areas at all times. • Provide excellent customer service to all university constituents by greeting individuals, properly communicating area closures, addressing their concerns to management as soon as they are brought to your attention, and showing respect to others at all times. • Follow current industry safety standards and guidelines. Wear personal protective equipment as trained and operate equipment following proper operational procedures.

| Desired Qualifications: |
• Knowledge & experience in floor care/maintenance, including stripping, waxing, buffing, and shampooing of carpet, VCT, wood gymnasium, terrazzo, etc., is desired. • Experience in an educational setting is preferred. • Carpet/floor care certification is desired.
