Purpose of the Position:

The College of Science Program and Proposal Coordinator directly assists college faculty with pre-award proposal preparation by implementing agency proposal guidelines; creating properly formatted budgets; and compiling documents for proposal submission to the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP). The Program and Proposal Coordinator provides review and guidance to faculty and staff in preparing and managing budgets, as well as required supporting documents, in compliance with agency requirements.

Duties / Responsibilities:

• Assist Science faculty/staff in proposal preparation to identify requirements and a timeline for submission.
• Assist principal investigators (PIs) in budget development, analysis, planning, and projections.
• Coordinate with Science faculty and staff, as well as other university research partners and collaborators, to facilitate research proposal submissions.
• Assist faculty and department staff with hiring on research accounts (e.g., graduate research assistants), summer labor, and effort certifications.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local government requirements related to pre-award proposal submissions to OSP.
• Independently make decisions concerning documents for submission, authorize actions, and manage the pre-award proposal process in conjunction with the PI.
• Foster and maintain working relationships across departments. Interface with Science faculty for post-award processing to manage awards and comply with reporting requirements.
• Establish working relationships with PI research collaborators, including monitoring and payment approval for sub-recipients and professional services contracts.
• Cross-train and gain knowledge of university and departmental post-award policies and procedures.
• Develop and maintain a research proposal database for use in report preparation to the Dean and Associate Dean.
• Maintain a database of awards, related expenditures, and remaining funding associated with research activities.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1 - 2 years of verifiable, full-time related work experience.
• Must be proficient with computers and applicable software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database programs.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of full-time, verifiable, related work experience, preferably with contracts, accounting, or research administration, are desired.
• Prior university experience is desired.
• Familiarity with Banner Finance is preferred.

Published Salary (if available):

$45,000 - $50,000
