Purpose of the Position:

The Veteran Integration Coordinator (VIC) is responsible for ensuring seamless integration and support for Veterans, active-duty military, and their families as they transition into the university environment. This role is pivotal in connecting Veterans to academic, social, and support services, to help them navigate their educational journey while ensuring they receive the full spectrum of benefits and resources available. The VIC will foster a supportive community, advocate for Veterans needs, and facilitate their successful integration into campus life.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

School Certifying Official:
● Obtains the SCO certification from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and maintains the qualification through the completion of continuing education requirements and individual professional development.
● Processes and submits VA educational benefits in the Enrollment Management system and maintains digital record keeping systems.
● Serves as a resource and advises current and prospective military -connected students and in obtaining and utilizing benefits made available to them by the VA.
● Conducts assessment of student needs including monitoring and evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures as they relate to the program services.
● Assesses issues related to benefit processing and application process and assists students in the resolution of any interruptions in the execution of the student's VA benefits.
● Follows all VA guidelines handed down by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the State Approving Agency.
Program Management:
● Assists in the creation, and development of reports concerning new or ongoing programs and program effectiveness.
● Coordinates veteran-specific programs and events, such as welcome orientations, workshops, career fairs, and networking events.
● Organizes peer mentoring programs and veteran student organizations to promote a supportive community and enhance the overall veteran experience.
● Monitors and assess the effectiveness of veteran programs, making recommendations for improvement based on student feedback and outcomes.
Veteran Integration Support:
● Develops and implements outreach initiatives to engage military-affiliated students, ensuring they are aware of available support services, resources, and academic opportunities.
● Helps military-affiliated students navigate the benefits process and ensures timely processing of benefits.
● Educates students on eligibility requirements, the application process, and other available resources.
● Assists with the transition process, including adjusting to university culture, accessing resources, and engaging with peer support groups.
● Conducts informational sessions and workshops for veterans to help them navigate university resources, build life skills, and adjust to academic life.
● Collaborates with various campus departments, such as Counseling, Career Services, and Academic Advising, to ensure veteran students receive comprehensive support.

Minimum Requirements:

• Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1 year of work experience (of which should include experience working directly within or alongside the military community).
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and the Google Suite tools.
• US Citizenship is required

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Experience in either VA or general veteran-related programs, or experience with education programs.

Published Salary (if available):

$35,750 - $38,895
