Purpose of the Position:

The Research Associate will support the IMPACT Project Office at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). NASA's IMPACT Project Office monitors trends and progressions across the informatics, data science, and information technology communities to inform strategy and develop effective solutions for Earth science data management and dissemination. The IMPACT Project Office also provides a broad user perspective on how NASA Earth science data and information are represented and communicated. The IMPACT project fosters cross-community collaborations to improve all Earth science data life cycle phases, including processes, policies, engineering, and information communication.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Perform research, and collaborate with various stakeholders to define and implement data management/ technical communication strategies, policies, and governance frameworks.
• Identify, report, analyze, and resolve technical communication issues related to uniqueness, integrity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
• Support the development of technical communications for data governance training programs to increase data literacy and educate stakeholders on data management practices.
• Participate in the development of scientific technical communication policies, standards and best practices

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, Professional/ Public Writing, or a related field
• Minimum of 12-15 months of full-time verifiable work experience
• Extensive experience in creating multimedia content
• Strong experience in communicating content to various media
• Excellent communication skills in a team framework
• Proven working knowledge of various software including Adobe and Microsoft products
• Team member willing to independently take on responsibilities

Desired Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, Professional/ Public Writing, or a related field

Published Salary (if available):

$45,000-$48,749
