Purpose of the Position:

The Salmon Library User Services Department seeks a responsible, part-time on-call employee to work at the User Services Desk. The User Services Staff Member serves the UAH community by providing circulation and collection maintenance functions, assisting with patron account questions, overseeing student workers, assisting with student engagement and outreach programs, and by providing assistance with using library resources and services through the research help desk as needed. This position includes performing all library closing procedures, assisting with projects, and other duties as assigned.

Duties/Responsibilities
Check out and check in books, interlibrary loans, reserve books, and other library materials.
Assist patrons with accounts and other requests, including collecting fines and fees.
Answer research questions involving library resources and other materials.
Answer basic informational, directional, and library policy questions.
Answer questions via LibChat, email, and other digital platforms.
Provide assistance and troubleshooting with library computers and software.
Work with and assist library student workers.
Participate in library outreach activities.
Manage/oversee building opening and closing procedures.
Work cooperatively on library-wide initiatives as appropriate to position functions.
Other duties as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Candidate must be reliable and attentive to detail, comfortable supervising student workers, and capable of assisting with emergency evacuation or other building safety procedures
Candidate must be able to work nights and weekends as needed. Hours will vary during the regular semester, final exam, interim, and summer periods but will not exceed 28 hours per week.

Other duties as needed.
This position will include on-desk and off-desk duties and will require nights (5-10 pm) and some weekends.

Desired Qualifications:

Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and/or Masters of Library Science Degree preferred
1-2 years prior experience in libraries or higher education preferred

Published Salary (if available):

28,780 ($13.80/hr)
