Purpose of the Position:

The Research Engineer II provides engineering expertise in scientific and engineering research of technologies relevant to weapon systems, testing, analysis, and associated tasks supporting UAH and research customers. Emphasis is on applying engineering expertise against technical requirements pertaining to multiple research topics for customers.

Duties / Responsibilities
• Provide experienced engineering expertise to research and technical staff across multiple research engineering tasks and provide engineering support and solutions through participation in studies and testing.
• Support UAH and customer R&D efforts by performing engineering duties using relevant engineering hardware, software, and tools. Work with engineers and test personnel to develop workable technical solutions acceptable to customers and in keeping with professional engineering standards.
• Recommend engineering solutions and participate in issue resolution concerning R&D efforts of programs and applied engineering research and testing in a developmental team or laboratory with open-air environments.
• Responsible for writing technical reports, papers, development, and test plans required by contract terms and under the direction of a principal investigator, including preparing major portions of test reports and experiments.
• Responsible for developing positive, collaborative working relationships with academic, industry, and government participants and successfully working as a professional member of a research team.

Minimum Requirements:

• Master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and years of specialized experience
• 18-21 months of full-time verifiable work experience
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Desired Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Engineering is preferred
• Mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering coursework, and/or additional related science and analytics coursework is desired
• Experience working in a lab environment, as well as experience in scientific testing, and fluid dynamics simulation is preferred
• Experience in destructive scientific experimentation, s/w programming, and tools is desired

Published Salary (if available):

$78,381 - $82,000
