Purpose of the Position:

The Transportation Program Manager will be responsible for multiple and varying programmatic assignments in support of a two-way partnership between the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Research Director of the Office of Public Transportation in a highly complex environment. This position will manage the day to day training responsibilities for the Rural Transit Assistance Program (RTAP), and coordinate with 30 regional agencies, and 150 agencies who primarily serve the elderly, and disabled transportation program initiatives. This program will build capacity, and empower transportation officials at all levels to benefit from RTAP’s workforce transportation development and training, technical assistance, technology transfer services and information exchange for successful management, operations and maintenance of the transportation structure.
This position will be based out of Montgomery Alabama. This is a grant funded position and subject to the continued availability.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree and or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience.
• 6-10 years of full-time verifiable work experience with knowledge of the principles and methods in transportation, public works or related industry.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have knowledge and adhere to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
• Must be able to work effectively with customers and stakeholder partners from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and management levels.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Teams.
• Must have a valid driver’s license

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• 10 – 15 years of work experience with knowledge of the principles and methods in transportation, public works or related industry.
• Experience working in a Department of Transportation (DOT) environment (preferably ALDOT) is preferred.

Published Salary (if available):

$65,000 - $75,000
