The goal of this research is to make numerical models less dependent on grid spacing. This will involve developing mathematical closures as well as writing code to implement the closures in numerical models. In carrying out the research, new tools such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) will need to be used.Duties and Responsibilities:• Work with senior ESSC investigators on the best strategy/techniques for improving the models and model performance. • Implement the desired strategy in model code or using AI/ML to develop and refine analytical frameworks. Minimum Requirements: • Master's degree, preferably in science, engineering, or business (Bachelor's Degree and experience in a specialized area may be substituted for a degree:• 2.5 to 3 years verifiable full-time work experience.• U.S. Citizenship is required. Desired Qualifications: • PhD, preferably in science, engineering, or business.
