Purpose of the Position:

The AMSTI Science Specialist will provide on-site support to AMSTI teachers implementing a hands-on science curriculum in their schools, write and facilitate workshops that train teachers, and will provide written reports monthly.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Provide consultations with educators, and the Alabama State Department of Education
• Report feedback from trainings and teacher consultations to the director
• Create, develop, prepare and submit reports for the Alabama State Department of Education
• Work cooperatively with other specialists to prepare workshops and trainings
• Prepares data-driven lessons for teachers combining resources with current best practice pedagogy
• Prepare monthly reports indicating the depth and time spent with the on-site support, planning of trainings and workshops, and visits within education
• Design workshops based on needs
• Prepare materials for off-site trainings (as needed)
• Conduct workshops (as needed by schools)
• Provide on-site curriculum support to AMSTI teachers
• Model good classroom practice and hands-on science lessons with students
• Provide consultations and programming support with teachers and administration
• Model questioning strategies
• Model materials management
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Education
• 6-20 years of full-time verifiable work experience
• Experience developing data-driven lessons for teachers
• Expertise in presenting workshops and trainings
• Expertise in writing workshops, by-grade-level
• Knowledge of the State Course of Study
• Must be proficient in Google Suite
• Must have a Valid Driver's License
• Must have a current Teacher's Certification

Desired Qualifications:

• Certified AMSTI Trainer is preferred
• National Board Certification is preferred
• Master's degree in Education is preferred

Published Salary (if available):

$64,560 - $92,082
